A horeshoer by trade, I began my love of metal work as early as high school, where I finished second in the state in farm mechanics. I attended Oklahoma State University and in the summer of 1965 nailed on my first set of shoes.
After graduation with a degree in animal husbandry and being drafted, I did a tour in Viet Nam. Upon return, I married Darlette and moved to Calumet, Oklahoma. There I began to build a shoeing business and work as livestock manager for Wilson Foods.
Soon I was shoeing full time and in 1980 encouraged by a customer, began building spurs and bits. I quickley became intrigued and began to develop my skills and improve my shop. I will soon transition from shoeing to full time bit, spur, and buckle maker.
I still live in Calumet with my wife of 45 years. We raised four sons, all OSU graduates.
